The SRTF Delivers Wheat Laboratory Equipment to Aleppo and Idleb Governorates
Turkey – Friday, 3 December 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered a large quantity of laboratory instruments, equipment and improvers for milling facilities of its “Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities. The delivered equipment, part of several deliveries under this project, will help the project’s implementing entity to exercise flour quality control through physical-chemical analysis for grain milling plants.
Worth a total of EUR 13.7 million, the project aims to ensure the availability of bread for the local population in moderate opposition held areas; thus, it benefits indirectly over 2 million people. This is being done by means of importing wheat, procuring locally-grown wheat, importing hessian sacks for transportation of the commodity and providing milling facilities and other support mechanisms for local bakeries.
