The SRTF Delivers the Second of Two Flour Mills Destined to Aleppo and Idleb Governorates
Turkey – Wednesday, 21 December, 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered the second of two milling plants to the implementing entity (IE) of its “Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project. The first plant was delivered to the IE on the 4th of November, 2016. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.
At a total cost of EUR 13.7 million, the project aims to ensure the availability of bread for the local population in moderate opposition held areas; thus, indirectly benefiting over 2 million people. This is being done by means of importing wheat, procuring locally-grown wheat, importing hessian sacks for transportation of the commodity and providing milling facilities and other support mechanisms for local bakeries.
