The SRTF Delivers a Mobile Mill and Two Skid Steer Loaders to the Northern Aleppo Countryside
Turkey – Friday, 23 December 2017 – The SRTF Management Unit delivered a mobile flourmill to the implementing entity (IE) and two skid-steer loaders to local councils in the northern Aleppo countryside today. The two deliveries took place separately under the SRTF “Filling the Void” project, which aims to satisfy the pressing needs of services and infrastructure in newly liberated areas.
The mill, which has a production capacity of 15 metric tons per day, will provide much needed wheat flour to help local bakeries meet the challenge of producing bread for an increasing population in the project-targeted areas. Large numbers of internally displaced persons (IDPs) have moved to these areas in recent months, thus, increasing demand on food stuff, water, electricity and other necessities and services.
The loaders, which were delivered in close coordination with the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), will be deployed in waste and rubble removal operations in two towns of the northern Aleppo countryside. The two loaders will contribute to restoring waste management services in the project-targeted areas.
