The SRTF Delivers Laboratory Equipment for a Food Security Project in Aleppo Countryside
Turkey – Sunday, 27th January 2019 - The SRTF Management Unit delivered the second lot of laboratory equipment to the implementing entity (IE), of its “Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project today. The delivered equipment, part of several deliveries under this project, will help the project’s IE to exercise flour quality control through physical-chemical analysis for grain milling plants. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.
Worth approximately EUR 13.7 million, the project is expected to have a highly positive impact in terms of creating an environment of confidence for the local farming community with regard to the cereals market and for the population with regard to the availability of reliable supplies of flour to local bakeries. When completed, the project will secure the availability of bread at affordable prices for the daily consumption of some two million beneficiaries.
