The SRTF Begins Demolition Process to Reinstall New Steel Bridges in Ar-Raqqa Governorate
Ar-Raqqa – Thursday, 28 Feb 2019 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund announced today the launch of the demolition process of destroyed bridges prior to the reinstallation of new steel bridges as part of its “Agricultural Support to Farmers-Phase I” project under the SRTF’s stabilization efforts in Ar-Raqqa Governorate.
Once demolition of destroyed bridges is complete, the SRTF will supply two temporary steel bridges which will facilitate the movement of farmers, agriculture inputs and crops.
At a total cost of EUR 4.1 million, Phase I of the project targets 2,100 farmers and their families cultivating approximately 2,500 hectares of land in three rural communities northeast of Ar-Raqqa City. Phases (II & III) under the same intervention were launched in 2018 and are underway with steady results at an estimated cost of EUR 12 million, thus bringing the expected total of support to farmers to EUR 16 million, serving 14 communities in Raqqa Governorate.
