The SRTF Management Committee Approves a New Project to Supply Aleppo Hospitals with Orthopedic Devices

Gaziantep – Monday, 30 November 2015 – The SRTF Management Committee (MC) today approved a new SRTF project for the “Supply of Orthopedic Implants and Devices to Three Hospitals in Aleppo Governorate.” Worth a total of approximately Euro 2.3 million, the project aims to procure and supply orthopedic implant devices and associated consumables for three hospitals in the Governorate of Aleppo through the Implementing Entity (IE).

The project addresses the serious lack of orthopedic implant devices in the three most advanced hospitals in Aleppo Governorate. Due to this deficiency, patients in need of surgery but cannot receive proper treatment often face debilitating malformations and disabilities. Such cases weigh heavily on the Syrian society and the Syrian economy.

In addition to supplying the needed equipment, the project will ensure the availability of sufficient numbers of orthopedic specialists and qualified medical staff in the three selected hospitals, which provide vital services for the 1.5 million populations of the target areas of the Governorate. The direct impact of the project will consist of 9000 orthopedic surgeries for some 6000 patients in one year.

With approval of this project, the total number of SRTF approved projects reaches 25 projects costing a total of approximately Euro 51.7 million.
