The SRTF Delivers Galvanized Iron Pipes for a Water Project in Idleb Governorate

Turkey – Wednesday, 17 May 2017 – The STRF Management Unit delivered a large quantity of galvanized iron pipes to the implementing entity of its "Rehabilitation of a Water Supply Network in a City and Surrounding Areas of Idleb Governorate” project today. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.

The delivery included 3750 meters of pipes. It is one of several deliveries under this project, which aims to ensure that potable water services are almost fully recovered in the project area. This will increase sustainable access to safe drinking water and will satisfy the water needs of 80% of the 56,000 residents of the city and adjacent villages.

Worth approximately EUR 865.850, the project is expected to improve sanitary and health conditions by providing a consistent water supply of no less than 60 liters per capita per day and decrease water costs for the poor to an affordable level (3% of household income, according to UN standards).
