The SRTF Delivers Seeds Sieving and Treatment Machines for Farmers in the Northern Countryside of Aleppo Governorate
Turkey – Thursday, 28 December 2017 - The SRTF Management Unit (MU) delivered three sets of seeds sieving, cleaning and treatment machines to the implementing entity (IE) under the SRTF's "Reestablishing Seed Production and Multiplication Programmes in Aleppo, Idleb, and Hama Governorates" project in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate today. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.
The machines will be temporarily stored in appropriate storage facilities and later installed and operationalized at the start of the next wheat harvest season. The machines will help farmers better protect their produce by using the provided seeds sieving, cleaning and treatment machines and techniques.
The delivery is part of several deliveries under this project, which aims to address a series of problems facing the agricultural sector and to protect local harvests in the three governorates of Aleppo, Idleb and Hama. At a total cost of EUR 3.3 million, the project will enhance the performance of the agricultural sector in the three governorates to the direct benefit of more than nine thousand farming households and to the indirect benefit of the entire population of the project targeted areas.
