The SRTF Delivers Flour Cotton Sacks and High Density Polyethylene Sheets Support of the Food Security Sector in Syria

Gaziantep – Friday, 21 August 2015 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered flour cotton sacks and High Density Polyethelene (HDPE) sheets with straps to the Syrian Public Establishment for Grain (SPEG), the Implementing Entity of the SRTF “Storage and Milling Support for the National Wheat Programme” project. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border.

 

The shipment included 400.000 cotton sacks, which will be used in wheat milling process and facilitates packing of flour. It also contained the complete delivery of HDPE cover sheets of the size 16x24 m2 and 1500 strap rolls, each of which has 150m of straps. The HDPE sheets and straps will secure wheat storage safety from external influences such as rain or humidity.

 

The project is enhancing the milling and storage capacity of SPEG; thus, ensuring food security for 1.4 million Syrian beneficiaries.
