Provision of Primary Health Care Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate – Phase IV

Building on the success of its previous phases, the Syria Recovery Trust Fund launched Phase IV of the “Provision of Primary Health Care Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate”. This intervention aims to continue the provision of health care services at two primary health care centres (PHCCs) and one mobile clinic, which were established under Phase I, and the distribution of non-communicable diseases (NCD) kits to 15 health care facilities in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate, rehabilitation of a section in a hospital to relocate a dialysis unit.

The intervention is expected to:

• Expand the provision of health care services in two PHCCs and one mobile clinic.
• Improve patients’ wellbeing and health conditions.
• Strengthen the health sector in Northeast Syria.

This will be done by implementing the following activities:             

• Providing primary health care services at the two PHCCs and one mobile clinic, including children’s and reproductive health, prevention and treatment of communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases, dental and oral health care, and laboratory and pharmaceutical services.
• Providing nutrition consultations to patients.
• Distributing 45 NCD kits in 15 PHCCs across the governorate.
• Rehabilitating one section in one hospital.
• Relocating a dialysis unit to the rehabilitated section of the hospital.
• Providing training sessions to all medical personnel and relevant staff.
• Providing community health awareness sessions to community members.
• Providing psychosocial support sessions to patients.
• Supporting medical staff and operational expenses.
• Supplying medications.
• Supplying medical equipment.

This is anticipated to:

• Improve access to health care services.
• Enhance preventive and community health interventions.
• Strengthen the nutritional and psychosocial wellbeing of patients and communities in general.
• Improve access to essential medication for NCDs.
• Enhance the integration of dialysis services within the hospital.

With a budget of around EUR 1.73 million, this intervention is expected to benefit at least 185,700 patients directly and over 409,684 beneficiaries indirectly, over a period of 12 months.
