The Kingdom of the Sweden Contributes an Additional euro1.7 Million to the Resources of the Syria Recovery Trust Fund
Gaziantep - Tuesday, 1 December 2015 - The Management Unit of the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) announced today that the Kingdom of Sweden has contributed an additional Euro1.7 million to the resources of the fund. The contribution was confirmed in a recent letter from the Government of Sweden the chair of the SRTF Steering Board.
The Director-General of the SRTF Management Unit, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, welcomed the increased contribution of Sweden as “yet another expression of confidence by another donor in the work and achievements of the SRTF in helping reduce the suffering of the Syrian people inside Syria. Thanking the Government of Sweden, he reiterated “the importance of the contribution of the Kingdom of Sweden in rallying additional support for the fund from other donor countries. He said “Sweden the third donor, following the United States and the Netherlands, in confirming its increased contribution to the fund.” Both the US and the Netherlands had confirmed their additional contributions of US$15 million and Euro 2 million respectively last month.
Sweden had already contributed Euro 4.47 million to the initial resources of the SRTF, which reached a total of Euro 90.2 as of 31 December 2014. Besides the US, the Netherlands and Sweden, the other SRTF donor countries are Germany, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Finland, Japan, United Kingdom, Kuwait, France and Italy.
