The SRTF Participates in the High-Level Follow up Meeting on the “Supporting Syria and the Region Conference” on the Margins of the UN General Assembly
New York – Friday, 21 September 2016 – Eng. Hani Khabbaz, Director-General of the Syrian Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) attended here today a high-level follow up meeting on the “Supporting Syria & the Region Conference”, which was held in London, UK, on 4 February 2016. Attended by ministerial representatives of major donors and refugee-hosting countries, the follow up meeting was organized on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly and co-chaired by and five co-sponsors of the London Conference: Germany, Kuwait, Norway, United Kingdom and the United Nations.
The meeting aimed to review, among others, progress against the financial and policy commitments made at the London Conference; to agree on ways for providing employment opportunities of refugees and quality education for their children inside Syria and the region.
The London Conference had raised an unprecedented $12 billion for 2016 and future years.
