The SRTF Delivers Polypropylene Flour Sacks for a Food Security Project in Aleppo and Idleb Governorates
Turkey – Wednesday, 10 May 2017 - The SRTF Management Unit delivered a large quantity of Polypropylene flour sacks to the Implementing Entity (IE) of its “Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project today. The delivery took place today at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.
The delivery included 750.000 of polypropylene flour sacks. The delivered quantity is part of several deliveries under this project, which aims to address food insecurity in Aleppo and Idleb Governorates. The delivery will also allow the project’s IE, the Syrian Public Establishment for Grains (SPEG) to help local farmers in packing, transporting and storing their wheat flour.
Overall, the project aims to ensure the availability of bread at affordable prices for the local population in moderate opposition held areas and to strengthen SPEGs operational capacity to improve and sustain food security in these areas.
