The SRTF Begins Rehabilitation of Water Distribution Networks to Aleppo’s Northern Countryside
Turkey – Wednesday, 15 November 2017 – The SRTF Management Unit (MU) has initiated rehabilitation and maintenance works on local water distribution networks in Aleppo’s northern countryside. The works include installation of high density polyethylene water pipes that were delivered to the area earlier this month. The delivery and subsequent work are part of the SRTF “Filling the Void” project, which supports stabilization efforts in liberated areas. Initially, three local communities will benefit from the just started recovery of the water distribution system.
The project was developed as a rapid response mechanism to deal with the extensive damage incurred by public services and infrastructure during conflict. Much of the damaged infrastructure affects sectors that the SRTF seeks to rehabilitate (i.e., water and sanitation networks, waste management services, health services, electricity networks, and educational facilities).
