Turkey – Sunday, 6th October 2019 - The SRTF Management Unit (MU) delivered polyethylene (PE) sheets to the implementing entity (IE) of its: “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase II” today.
The delivery consisted of 150 rolls of PE sheets of the size (48 X 9 meters each) that will be placed underneath wheat grains as protection from humidity and external agents.
At a total cost of EUR 6.2 million, this intervention is expected to benefit 175,000 persons each month from the increased production of bread and over 2,000 people through employment opportunities in the transport, service, and production industries. Moreover, the project will help sustain existing livestock populations through the availability of bran, a byproduct of wheat milling, as animal feed and will work to support the sustainability of services to the local population and will ensure recovery of critical infrastructure.
