Kuwait Provides an Additional EUR 10 Million Contribution to the SRTF
Amman – Friday, 25th October 2019 – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) announced that it has received an additional EUR 10 million contribution from Kuwait today. The new contribution brings the total amount of Kuwait’s contributions to the SRTF since its establishment in 2013 up to EUR 31.77 million.
Deputy Director General for Operations, Mr. Marwan A. Th. Al Ghanem commented on the latest contribution by Kuwait: “The recent increment affirms the commitment of the State of Kuwait towards the internal situation in the Syrian territories and the necessity of providing suitable livelihoods for Syrian citizens inside Syria.”
On his part, the Director General of the SRTF, Eng. Hani Khabbaz thanked the Government of Kuwait for its generous support, expressing gratitude with this statement: “This is Kuwait’s third generous contribution to which the SRTF is immensely grateful. As donor countries like Kuwait continue to show their solidarity with the Syrian people, the SRTF efforts are reinvigorated to get more results and live up to our donors’ expectations.” Eng. Khabbaz also said: “Around eight million beneficiaries already benefited from the SRTF’s interventions inside Syria since its establishment, and many more will benefit thanks to the continuous backing of Kuwait and the SRTF’s other donors.”
With Kuwait’s new contribution, the total amount of contributions received from all 12 SRTF donor countries rises to approximately EUR 236.44 million (about US$ 260 million). The other donor countries and members of the SRTF are Germany, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Türkiye and Jordan are also members as host countries of the SRTF.
