The SRTF Graduates 45 Women After Successful Completion of Vocational Training
Ar-Raqqa – Thursday, January 21, 2021 – The SRTF is proud to announce the successful completion of vocational training for 45 women in Ar-Raqqa under its on-going agriculture intervention, “Agriculture Support to Farmers – Phase III”. The women, who work as administrative assistants for the farmers’ cooperatives (coops), completed trainings on finance management and procurement procedures. Upon completion, the implementing entity (IE) held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the well-deserved accomplishments of the women.
These women-led cooperative administrative units (CAUs) provide important administrative and office support to the coops to effectively and efficiently facilitate annual agriculture cycles. Their support includes performing clerical duties, maintaining filing systems and records to ensure that all farmers’ data remains confidential, registering new farmers, and receiving and reporting feedback and complaints to the necessary institutions.
The CAUs retain a special level of importance for the SRTF as they represent an emerging alternative economic system that aims to address critical economic and ecological needs in the region and helps to boost the local economy through supporting women’s empowerment.
Worth EUR 9.17 million, this multi-phase intervention is estimated to benefit 2,071 local farmers, their households, and associated workers and cultivate over 7,103 hectares of land, which will strengthen the local economy with increased food security.
The SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, reiterated the importance of the women-led CAUs, “The recently graduated 45 female administrative assistants are a prime example of the SRTF’s commitment to helping women gain economic independence and improving the overall socio-economic status of marginalized communities.”
