The SRTF Approves a New Health Intervention in Northeast Syria Focused on Prosthetics Care
Amman – Thursday, June 17, 2021 – The SRTF is pleased to announce the approval of a new health intervention in Northeast Syria (NES). The new intervention, “Establishing 3 Prosthetics Centers in Northeast Syria”, will establish three prosthetic centers in Ar-Raqqa, Deir Ez-Zor, and Al-Hasakeh and help provide prosthetics to those who lost limbs due to the conflict.
In addition to establishing three prosthetics centers, this intervention will facilitate hiring several prosthetic specialists who will help produce required prosthetics and train the patients on their use. Additionally, this intervention will provide basic physical therapy in order to help patients learn how to perform basic functions with their new prosthetics, in addition to routine upkeep and maintenance to ensure the longevity of the prosthetics.
This newly approved intervention is the first of its kind for the SRTF and aims to support and provide around 1,260 amputee beneficiaries with access to reliable prosthetics and care. With a budget of EUR 321,640, this intervention will take place over the course of eight months.
