The SRTF Participates in Joint Workshop with the SIG

Amman – Wednesday, June 16, 2021 – The SRTF is pleased to announce its participation in a joint workshop between the SRTF and the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) headed by its Prime Minister Mr. Abdul Rahman Mustafa and several ministers and heads of technical units. The SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, attended this meeting on behalf of the SRTF.

 

The meeting discussed a myriad of topics related to the SRTF’s work priorities and ways to expedite projects in key sectors including health, food security, and essential services. The meeting discussed ways to improve coordination and cooperation between the SIG and the SRTF to finance rehabilitation projects in the targeted work areas. Additionally, the meeting discussed new ideas for projects and best practices for streamlining project proposals. Finally, the meeting presented some of the obstacles and ways to overcome them to expedite the implementation of various projects.

 

The Prime Minister of the SIG, Mr. Abdul Rahman Mustafa, described the work of the SRTF and its donors as vital, saying: “The SRTF is a key player in implementing rehabilitation projects to restore basic services and create stability in opposition-controlled areas. We are very interested in advancing the implementation of projects, especially in sectors such as food security, water, education, and health to provide more support to the Syrian people.”

 

On his part, the SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, stressed the importance of joint cooperation between the two sides and the Fund's commitment to support projects to rehabilitate basic services, stating, "Over the past years, the SRTF has been able to prove its ability to make a difference in the lives of Syrians, and we look forward to continuing the implementation of vital projects in cooperation with our implementing partners and donors to restore basic services and to achieve our common goal to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people."
