An SRTF Health Intervention to Combat COVID-19 Completes all Activities in Deir Ez-Zor
Deir Ez-Zor – Monday, October 25, 2021 – The SRTF’s health intervention “Emergency Response for COVID-19 in Deir Ez-Zor” reported significant progress with the completion of all its planned activities recently.
The completed activities include site rehabilitation for a fully equipped ICU hospital in Deir Ez-Zor, the procurement and delivery of medical and non-medical equipment, facilities furniture, medication, medical consumables, laboratory devices & kits, personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection protection control (IPC) materials.
In cooperation with a non-governmental organization, the SRTF-funded health intervention was designed with the goal to strengthen the capacities of fragile health systems in three communities in Deir Ez-Zor governorate to mitigate the spread of the novel COVID-19 virus through focusing on four priorities / pillars including: community isolation, laboratory screening procedures, monitoring COVID-19 cases, and the treatment of the confirmed cases. In addition to the completed deliveries, weekly case management sessions were held between hospital staff and specialists to help improve hospital staff skills which is contributing to better management of COVID-19 cases.
With a budget of EUR 1.7 million, around 630,000 individuals, including internally displaced people (IDPs), will indirectly benefit from this intervention health services.
