Four Agricultural Tractors Delivered to Potato Farmers in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye’ - Tuesday, 17 May 2022 – As part of the SRTF’s plan to support and develop the agriculture sector in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, the SRTF’s management unit (MU) delivered four tractors today to the implementing entity (IE) under project: “Support to Potato Producers in North Aleppo”.

The tractors will be utilized in various activities such as plowing farmers’ lands by connecting all types of cultivators to them, planting potato tubers by connecting a potato seeder to them, picking stones from the lands by connecting a stones picker to them, spreading all types of fertilizer by connecting a specified fertilizer spreader to them,  and transferring potato seeds to and from the field by connecting trailer to them. Additionally, potato leaf shredders and cutting machines can be connected to these tractors.

The farmers who will benefit from the use of agricultural machinery provided through this project will cultivate an estimated area of approximately 2100 hectares, at an average rate of 3 hectares per farmer.

Wirth a total budget of EUR 1 million and a 12-month life cycle, the project is expected to benefit approximately 700 potato farmers and around 5,600 family members directly.
