The SRTF Steering Board & Management Committee Extend the SRTF’s Mission for an Additional Two Years and Approve a New Agriculture Intervention

Amman – Wednesday, 21 December 2022 – The SRTF’s Steering Board (SB) members and its Management Committee (MC) held meetings in Kuwait last week.

 

During the 18th SB meeting, Germany announced a new contribution of EUR 10 million to support the SRTF efforts in the Food Security and Agriculture sectors across the Northeast and Northwest of Syria, and Japan announced a new contribution worth EUR 5.9 million.

 

The MC made a number of decisions at its 32nd meeting including the approval of: “Support to Livestock Farmers in Ar-Raqqa Governorate – Phase II” with a total budget of EUR 1.84 million, bringing the total budget of the SRTF’s approved projects to EUR 229.56 million. Moreover, the MC agreed to extend the SRTF’s mission for two more years.

 

Additionally, several key deliverables were approved including an improved Logic Model and Results Framework that contains a set of SRTF-level indicators; the operational budget for 2023 and measures to ensure sustainability under the Health Sector strategy.

 

The SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, briefed members of the MC and SB on the SRTF’s operational updates and achievements relating to project implementation and progress on the ground. He shared the steady increase in outputs and the positive impact on beneficiaries. He provided updates on the SRTF disbursement in 2022 that allowed the Fund to have the highest disbursement since inception all while maintaining an impressive low overhead for the third year in a row; this year’s overhead is below 11%.

 

Furthermore, the MC approved the current Independent Monitoring Agent (IMA) contract which will be extended for one more year until 2024 and the Independent Monitoring Agent TOR for 2023 was reviewed and approved. The SRTF and IMA Quarterly Reports are now aligned so both can reflect on data from the same project implementation period.
