An SRTF Food Security Project Completes Civil Works in Northern Aleppo
Türkiye – Thursday, 5 January 2023– The SRTF announced the successful completion of civil works on an expansion to an existing bakery building, under its Food Security project: “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase V”.
The civil works included general construction works, the installation of steel doors and windows, the installation of tanks, water and sanitation works as well as electrical works.
A flour mill, which will be used in emergency situations, has been installed in the expansion, thereby facilitating the milling process and contributing to increased production of better-quality bread at affordable prices.
Engineer Mohammad, a staff member at the IE, stated that: "An extension was built for the bakery as well as a metal shed to cover people queuing to buy bread. Other civil works were also conducted to the building to house other machines. The bakery and extension were necessary and allowed people in surrounding communities to secure their basic needs at affordable prices and in good quantities. Thanks to the SRTF, we are able to provide the people with high-quality bread at 2 TL per bundle."
This project has a budget of EUR 7.8 million and is expected to directly benefit around 375,000 individuals per day over a period of eight months, across nine various locations in Northern Aleppo. The SRTF will continue to commit to promoting food security through different projects across Syria.
