The SRTF Delivers Maintenance Tools and Commences Rehabilitation Works under a Cash-for-Work Project in Northern Aleppo
Türkiye – Wednesday, 6 September 2023 – The SRTF announced the delivery of maintenance tools and equipment needed to begin rehabilitation works under its Cash-for-Work (CfW) project: “Rehabilitation of Ten Schools in Rural Areas of Northern Aleppo – Phase I”.
The maintenance tools included paint, hammers, ladders, construction trollies and silicon, for example. This equipment is being used in constructing, restoring and repairing works at eight schools including the walls, ceilings, doors, windows, flooring, lighting, gates and playgrounds, through (CfW) opportunities available for unskilled and semi-skilled workers. This will enable the workers to secure a basic income for their families through legally paid work, while also providing students with access to a safer and more suitable learning environment.
This project seeks to promote individuals’ livelihoods and economic stability, as well as provide improved quality and access to education with a safer learning environment for students, in response to the severe unemployment and poverty rates and in order to prevent children from being forced into child marriage or child labour.
This project has a budget of EUR 1 million and is expected to directly benefit 6,010 individuals, including 5,560 students and 230 individuals through Cash-for-Work opportunities, as well as 30,050 of their family members indirectly, over a period of 24 months.
