Seeds of Change: The SRTF's Phase VII Delivers 412 MT of Wheat Seeds to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa

Ar-Raqqa – Monday, 13 November 2023 – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) announced the delivery and distribution of 412 MT of wheat seeds to 660 farmers under its Agriculture intervention “Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa Governorate – Phase VII”.

Based on the successes of the previous phases of this intervention, this phase will deliver agricultural inputs and equipment, wheat varieties, as well as fertilisers and agrochemicals, accompanied by training sessions on Climate Smart Agriculture, to farmers.

This is to achieve its aim of improving living conditions and food security by improving and expanding the production of wheat and vegetables, increasing cooperatives’ capacities to provide mechanisation services to members, enhancing the overall income resulting from farming in targeted communities, and promoting drought resilience through the use of modern irrigation methods.

Such an integrated approach is key to increasing farmers’ agricultural capacity and improving their livelihoods, as well as enhancing food security across the region.

This intervention is expected to directly benefit 660 farmers, with a budget of EUR 2.64 million, throughout a period of eight months. Community members will also benefit from increased food security in the area and the reactivation of the local economy.
