An SRTF Agriculture Intervention Delivers Five Tractors in Ar-Raqqa

Ar-Raqqa – Wednesday, 22 November 2023 – The SRTF announced the delivery of five tractors under its Agriculture intervention, “Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa Governorate – Phase VII”.

The use of machinery combined with the recent delivery of wheat seeds, along with the delivery of other agricultural inputs, equipment and training sessions that are planned to be provided to farmers throughout the intervention’s duration, will contribute to achieving its overall aim of improving living conditions and attaining greater food security in the areas of implementation.

This is done by using an integrated approach; increasing and expanding the production of wheat and vegetables, increasing cooperatives’ capacities to provide mechanisation services to members, enhancing the overall income resulting from farming in targeted communities, and promoting drought resilience using modern irrigation methods. This allows farmers’ agricultural capacity to improve, thereby improving their livelihoods and enhancing food security for their families and across the region.

With a budget of EUR 2.64 million, this intervention will directly benefit 660 farmers over a period of eight months, in addition to thousands of community members who will benefit from the improved food security and reactivation of the local economy.
