An Agriculture Intervention Delivers and Distributes Fertilisers in Northeast Syria
Northeast Syria - Wednesday, 16 October 2024 - The SRTF announced the delivery of 573 metric tonne (MT) of fertilisers to 1,127 farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor, to ensure the best outcomes for their crops at this time of the year.
This support comes under the: "Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates – Phase VIII" project and goes beyond fertilisers, offering high-quality wheat seeds, irrigation kits, equipment, and machinery to local farmers. Training on Climate Smart Agriculture is also on the agenda, equipping farmers with the skills to adapt to changing climate conditions and maximise crop yields. The farmers targeted in this intervention are looking forward to increased productivity and better water management practices, ultimately leading to more stable and resilient communities. By empowering these farmers, the SRTF is planting the seeds for a sustainable future in Northeast Syria.
With a budget of EUR 3.1 million, this intervention aims to improve wheat production over the next year. It promises to boost not only the farmers' livelihoods but also the well-being of surrounding communities by strengthening the local economy and enhancing food security in the region.
