An SRTF Health Project in Northern Aleppo Successfully Concludes Its Activities and is Announced Completed

Türkiye – Sunday, 3 November 2024 - The SRTF is thrilled to announce the successful closure and completion of Phase II of its Health project “Supporting Health Services in the North Aleppo Countryside”.

Built on the successful outcomes of Phase I, Phase II contributed to supporting the health system in Northern Aleppo by improving the ambulances response network and continuing to support operations at one primary health care centre (PHCC) that was established under Phase I, through the procurement of two ambulances and the supply of medication, medical equipment and medical consumables. This ensured that the ambulances and PHCC maintained the delivery of high-quality health services including emergency care, medical consultations and pharmaceutical services.

Moreover, a female patient at the PHCC told the SRTF; “We feel safe and comfortable because there is a health facility that provides high-quality health services free of charge.”

Another female patient told us; “The medical services given to us are excellent and were provided free of charge. The provision of medicine is of great support to us as displaced people, because of their high price, and we cannot afford to go to private clinics and buy medicines prescribed by the doctor. The centre is a great blessing for us and provides psychological comfort as well.”

One male patient told us; ’The presence of the health facility [PHCC] has significantly reduced the expenses for me and my family, as my son is disabled and needs health care on a regular basis. I receive the medicines my son needs for free from the facility. Additionally, both my family and I receive free medical checkups and medications whenever we face any health issue. This aspect provides me with some psychological stability and encourages me to stay in the area and settle down here in the long-term.”

With a budget of one million Euros, this project benefitted 54,360 patients directly and 271,800 individuals indirectly, over a period of 18 months including six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation. This contributed to improving the overall health conditions and ensuring a sense of stability and security in the area.
