Northeast Syria - Tuesday, 5 November 2024 - The SRTF is pleased to announce the completion of Phase II of its Health intervention “COVID-19 Emergency Response and Establishment of Secondary and Tertiary Care in Deir-ez-Zor”.
This intervention contributed to improving health care services and addressing gaps in the health sector. One hospital was rehabilitated to include the existing COVID-19 ward and establish a new non-COVID-19 inpatient ward, consultation rooms, an outpatient department, a haemodialysis department, an emergency room, and an intensive care unit.
To ensure adequate delivery of high-quality health services, medication and medical equipment were provided and capacity building training sessions were delivered to medical and administrative staff. Referrals were also made and transportation was provided for patients who needed services at other health facilities.
This intervention ensured the provision of sustainable health care services, contributed to strengthening the medical infrastructure, and improved social and economic conditions of patients and residents in the area through enhancing their well-being and creating job opportunities, thereby, contributing to their stability and improving their overall living conditions.
With a budget of around EUR 2.3 million, this intervention benefitted 43,593 patients directly, including 341 COVID-19 patients, exceeding the initial target of around 7,000 patients, and benefitted around 630,000 individuals indirectly, over a period of 14 months.
