The SRTF Approves Three New Projects to Enhance Food Security, Agriculture, and Livelihoods in Syria
Amman – Monday, 10 February 2025 – The SRTF announces the approval of two new projects in Aleppo governorate under the Food Security, and Agriculture sectors and a Livelihoods project in Northeast Syria.
Building on the successes of its previous phases, Phase VIII of the Food Security project, “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate” aims to continue the supply of soft wheat to maintain the availability of wheat and resultant produced bread at affordable prices while improving its quality. With a budget of EUR 2.15 million, this project is expected to directly benefit 95,000 individuals per month. The project duration is 18 months which includes six months for post-delivery monitoring and evaluation.
Moreover, Phase II of the Livelihoods effort, “Enhancing Livelihoods and Housing in Deir-ez-Zor”, aims to improve living and housing conditions through shelter rehabilitation, support small-scale farming (promoting Climate Smart Agriculture) and provide Cash-for-Work opportunities, to improve host community members’, internally displaced people’s and returnees’ livelihoods and economic conditions. For a budget of around EUR 2.59 million, this intervention is expected to benefit an estimated 17,700 individuals directly, including IDPs and returnees from Al Hol. The project duration is 10 months.
In the Agriculture sector, the “Enhancing the Productivity, Resilience, and Sustainability of Livestock Farming in AsSweida Rural Communities” project aims to improve livestock owners’ and farmers’ livestock management practices, veterinary practices and compost production while also ensuring sustainable farming practices, through capacity-building training and the provision of essential resources, to increase livestock productivity and enhance food security. With a budget of around EUR 159,000, this project is expected to benefit 115 individuals directly and 250 indirectly, over a period of six months.

Such efforts allow the SRTF to continue providing essential food items and rehabilitating homes for Syrian families, ensuring long-term impact and sustainability, at such a crucial time. Such efforts will inevitably improve people’s resilience, well-being and living conditions.
