A Water Project Achieves Great Milestones in Northern Aleppo
Türkiye – Thursday, 3 April 2025 - Civil works on a water supply network and the rehabilitation of one (out of the planned four) water pumping station were completed under; “Restoration of Sustainable and Safe Water Access to Six Communities in A Sub-District in Northern Aleppo”.
The civil works on the water supply network were mainly extension works, whereby, 630 metres (m) of 90 millimetres (mm) diameter pipes, 459m of 180mm diameter pipes and 801m of 200mm diameter pipes were installed along with seven valves of different sizes.
While the rehabilitation works of the water pumping station included creating and installing a steel structure for the solar system, installing solar panels and all the necessary cables to connect them to the breakers and inverters, installing lighting poles, constructing a room for the guard, conducting graveling, levelling and compaction works to ensure access from the road to the station, installing a solar system assigned for road lighting, and testing the system for pumping water from the well to the main water tank in the area.
Such efforts, along with the provision of the relevant training sessions to the relevant operators, will secure the supply of safer and more accessible clean potable water to the main water tank to the residents in the area, thereby, reducing the spread of waterborne diseases and health risks, increasing individuals’ access to water and improving households’ living conditions.
With a budget of EUR 1.57 million, these efforts will directly benefit an estimated 168,366 individuals in at least 33,000 households, serving community residents and internally displaced people, over a period of 10 months. Members of surrounding communities will benefit from the improved harvest, the boost in the local economy and the provision of clean potable water.
