The SRTF Supports Farmers by Equipping Greenhouses with More Tools and Equipment in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye – Tuesday, 8 April 2025 – The project “Support Farmers for the Production of Wheat and Vegetable Crops in Northern Aleppo” is significantly impacting local agricultural productivity, benefitting 4,000 farmers and their 20,000 family members. The SRTF is providing essential tools, materials, and equipment which will enhance agricultural activities and support sustainable farming practices. These efforts not only improve the livelihoods of farmers but also aim to rejuvenate the agriculture sector and ensure greater food security in the region.

Recent deliveries include two water pumps, two vertical water tanks for mixing fertilisers, two plastic water tanks with bases, two battery-operated sprayers, 4,000 square metres of polyethene sheets, and one solar power unit. This follows a similar delivery at the end of last year, which included metal tables, water tanks, hoses, heating and ventilation systems, mesh covers, and additional polyethene sheets. These supplies are crucial for building and installing greenhouses, which will be used to germinate vegetable seeds previously provided under the project. Once established, these greenhouses will enable farmers to grow seedlings more efficiently, saving time, effort, and money as they transplant them into open fields.

In addition to the materials, farmers receive technical training sessions that will help them adopt innovative farming techniques, improve their harvests, expand production, and generate sustainable income. The project, with a budget of around EUR 3 million, is set to indirectly benefit an additional 95,000 people each month through the milling of the harvested wheat.
