Comprehensive Support Initiative for Two Dialysis Units through Operational and Medical Assistance in Deir-ez-Zor Governorates – Phase III
Based on the successes of its previous phases and given how crucial these services are, the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF), in coordination with an Implmeneting Partner (IP), launched Phase III of the “Comprehensive Support Initiative for Two Dialysis Units through Operational and Medical Assistance in Deir-ez-Zor Governorates” intervention.
Through this intervention, the SRTF aims to bridge existing gaps by providing comprehensive assistance to enhance the delivery of health services in the two existing dialysis units in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate, Northeast Syria, especially given the dire situation of the health care system in the area, which has been strained with the ongoing conflict, resulting in the lack of operational medical facilities and a shortage in professional medical personnel.
The intervention is expected to:
- Address the gaps to maintain the provision of high-quality health care services in the dialysis units.
- Improve overall health care in Deir-ez-Zor.
This will be done by implementing the following activities:
- Providing essential medication, medical consumables, and equipment for the haemodialysis units.
- Ensuring health care professionals and medical personnel are recruited and available to deliver essential services effectively.
- Creating job opportunities within the health facilities.
- Providing 6,240 haemodialysis sessions to 121 patients in the two dialysis units.
This is anticipated to:
- Ensure the effectiveness and quality of routine haemodialysis services.
- Strengthen the existing health care system.
- Revive the local economy and local markets.
With a budget of around EUR 549,845, this intervention is expected to directly benefit 121 patients through haemodialysis sessions, and their 605 family members indirectly through the provision of other health services. A total of around 229,140 individuals in surrounding communities will also benefit from the overall improved health conditions in the area.
