The SRTF Delivers Wheat Seeds for the Agricultural Season 2019 within Phase II of its “Agriculture Support to Farmers” Project in Ar-Raqqa Governorate

Ar-Raqqa - Tuesday, 16  April 2019 - The SRTF announced the delivery of 200 tons of wheat seeds to farmers under the project “Agriculture Support to Farmers – Phase II” today.  The delivery was carried out in two phases with an additional expected delivery of 160 tons wheat seeds planned; making the total wheat seeds delivered in the current planting season 360 tons.

Through this intervention, the SRTF has thus far distributed a total of 860 tons of wheat seeds to farmers starting with 500 tons which were delivered during the winter planting season, 2018. 

The SRTF Director General Eng. Hani Khabbaz commented on this update saying: "The continuous support to the agricultural sector in Ar-Raqqa Governorate constitutes a main priority to enable farmers to cultivate their land, contribute to job creation, and enhance food security to provide stability in these communities.”

Worth EUR 6.3 million, phase II of this project is supporting four communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate with the agricultural inputs required to cultivate up to 4,300 hectares.  The intervention, second of three phases, will benefit over 1,000 local farmers, their households and associated workers living in areas liberated from Daesh.
