The SRTF Participates in the “Working Group on Stabilisation of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh”
Amman – Thursday, March 25, 2021 – The SRTF’s Director General (DG), Eng. Hani Khabbaz, had the pleasure of participating in the “Working Group on Stabilisation of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh” meeting on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. During the working group, the DG had the opportunity to share the SRTF’s latest updates and accomplishments in Northeast Syria (NES) under its the Stabilisation Progamme’s Filling the Void (FtV) efforts that benefitted around 870,000 Syrians in 2020.
As of today, the SRTF approved 25 interventions under the Stabilisation Programme, with a total budget of EUR 94 million supporting over 170 communities in Ar-Raqqa, Deir Ez-Zor, and Al Hasakeh. The Stabilisation Programme currently works in key sectors such as agriculture, food security, health, solid waste & rubble removal, electricity, livelihood, home rehabilitation, vocational training, and access to finance.
Moreover, Mr. Khabbaz discussed the SRTF desire to continue to expand its current interventions, particularly those reaping positive results such as the agriculture sector and livelihood, increase rehabilitation of essential services such as WASH and electricity, and expand its Stabilisation Programme to new communities.
Finally, the DG briefed the audience on funding requirements and the operational challenges that the NES faces and ways to overcome them.
