The SRTF Completes Civil Works on Two Bakery Buildings Under an SRTF Food Security Project in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye – Thursday, 16 November 2023 – The SRTF Food Security project, “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase VI”, successfully completes the civil works to set up two bakery buildings in two different locations in Northern Aleppo.

These two new bakeries will contribute to achieving the overall aim of the project which is to increase people’s access to good quality bread at affordable prices, by ensuring the continuity of wheat milling which will increase the production of bread. Bakery equipment is also continuously provided under this project, allowing for an increased amount of milled flour to be delivered to the supported bakeries.

With an original budget of EUR 8.4 million, this project is expected to directly benefit an average of 250,000 individuals per month, over a period of 18 months. An additional budget of EUR 4 million was approved under this project under an Emergency Response Plan following the earthquake that hit Northern Syria earlier this year, bringing the total budget to EUR 12.4 million, aiding the most affected individuals in times of need and attaining greater food security in the area.
