Provision of Primary Health Care Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate – Phase III

In response to the growing need for essential health services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate, and based on the accomplishments attained as part of phases I & II of the same health intervention the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF), in coordination with an Implementing Entity (IE), launched Phase III; “Provision of Primary Health Care Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate” to build on its efforts that aim to provide quality health services and strengthen the Health sector in Northeast Syria.

This intervention aims to extend and expand the operations and services provided within the two primary health care centres (PHCCs) and one mobile clinic that were established under Phase I. It will also continue to provide non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kits to PHCCs in various locations across Deir-ez-Zor Governorate.

The project is expected to:

  • Expand the provision of health care services in two PHCCs and one mobile clinic.
  • Improve patients’ wellbeing and health conditions.

This will be done by implementing the following activities:

  • Providing primary health care services through the previously established Comprehensive PHCC, Basic PHCC and one mobile clinic.
  • Distributing 45 NCD kits in PHCCs across the governorate.
  • Providing nutrition consultations to patients.
  • Providing psychosocial support sessions to patients.
  • Providing training sessions on topics including evacuation plans, to all medical personnel and relevant staff.
  • Providing community health awareness sessions to community members.

This is anticipated to:

  • Improve patients’ health conditions.
  • Improve the overall health levels within the targeted communities.
  • Reach a greater number of patients in the most vulnerable communities.

With a total budget of around EUR 1.73 million, this project is expected to directly benefit 115,956 patients and around 357,886 individuals indirectly within the areas of operation, over a period of 12 months.
