Japan Boosts the SRTF's Efforts in Syria with EUR 1.96 Million

Amman – Thursday, 4 April 2024 – The SRTF is thrilled to receive a new generous contribution of around EUR 1.96 million from Japan, today. This brings Japan’s total contributions to the Fund to EUR 53.36 million since its inception.

 

This is Japan’s eighth contribution to the Fund and will contribute to expanding the SRTF operations under its Recovery and Stabilisation programmes in the Northwest (NWS) and Northeast (NES) of Syria.

 

On this occasion, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Many years of conflict have left the Syrian people in a desperate state. We must not let another year pass without exerting all our efforts towards a path to peace, security, and prosperity. Japan stands in solidarity with the people of Syria, and we will strive to make peace a reality for them.”

 

The SRTF Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, expressed his gratitude saying: "The SRTF extends its sincere appreciation to Japan for their unwavering commitment to our mission. With this latest contribution, we are empowered to extend our reach and impact, fostering hope and resilience in communities striving for a brighter tomorrow in Syria."

 

This latest contribution has raised the total contributions made by the SRTF’s 12 donor countries; Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, France, Italy, and the Netherlands as well as the Fund’s host countries, Türkiye and Jordan, to an impressive EUR 346.52 million.
