The SRTF Begins Construction of a Water Tank to Enhance Water Access for 75,000 Residents in Northern Aleppo
Türkiye – Monday, 12 August 2024 – The SRTF announced the start of civil works under its Water and Sanitation project; “Rehabilitation of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure in a District in Northern Aleppo – Phase 1”.
The civil works include the construction of a water tank and the rehabilitation and extension of water supply networks to improve access to drinking water for a population of over 75,000 residents.
This will be followed by the construction of a new water storage reservoir, the rehabilitation of an electromechanical control switchgear at the pump stations and the introduction of a reliable maintenance programme for the existing pumping stations and networks.
This will improve the quality and supply of safe potable water, reduce health risks for community members and improve sanitation, thereby, contributing to the overall aim of the project of improving the health environment and living conditions of the population within the areas of operation.
With a budget of around EUR 1.8 million, this project is expected to directly benefit at least 75,000 community residents over a period of 18 months, which includes post-implementation monitoring and evaluation.
